Small Classes, Real Momentum: Personalized Teaching at Eva Carlston
Families often ask how we make school feel steady and meaningful during treatment. Small classes and personalized instruction give students space to participate, ask questions, and move at a calm, doable pace that supports real progress.
How small classes help
Small classes invite active participation and timely feedback, which keeps students engaged and confident. Teachers can check understanding in the moment and adjust the pace without losing rigor. Varied approaches keep learning accessible in core subjects and electives so progress is visible day to day.
In a randomized Project STAR study, students who spent four years in small classes graduated at 87.8%, compared with 76.3% in full-size classes – an 11.5% difference!
Personalized teaching
Instruction at Eva is flexible and responsive. Teachers adapt lessons to different learning styles and present material in ways that spark curiosity and connection. This responsiveness helps students rebuild academic momentum and experience success in the classroom, not just on paper.
College and test prep
When college is the next step, students can access ACT and SAT preparation, application support, and personalized academic planning. Advising helps clarify goals and map next steps while keeping balance in daily life. Supports are timed to readiness so effort goes where it counts most.
Learning beyond the classroom
Academic growth continues outside the classroom through arts integration and cultural learning. Students extend lessons with visits to museums, ballets, operas, and other events that build curiosity and confidence. A consistent rhythm keeps enrichment real.
The program includes weekly art therapy and studio time and monthly gallery visits and community art events. These experiences make learning tangible and support motivation back on campus.
Accreditation and licensing
Accreditation keeps learning on track. Our school is accredited through Cognia, credits are transferable, and students may graduate with a Utah state diploma or return to home schools with credits that travel. Families who want a clear view of program standards can visit Licensing & Accreditation for residential licensing and clinical credentials.
